» The Number 1 Rule in Blogging

A colleague of mine saw that I hadn’t posted since July and said “shame on you.” All I can say is it was a fun and very busy summer, and now that Fall is here my plans are to dig in a little and try to get on a regular publishing schedule.
So what is the number one rule of blogging… PUBLISH REGULARLY!
So why is the number 1 rule to publish regularly? Couple reasons actuallly.
1) Social Networking:
If you publish regularly then you are likely to get folks who will follow your content via RSS, Twitter, Facebook etc. If you gain followers, they are likely to share your content with others and so on.
2) First Time Visitors:
If a first time visitor comes to your blog and sees that you haven’t posted in a month or so and all your posts are sporadically published they’re likely to go away and not become a part of your community / social network.
3) Search Engine Spiders
Publishing regularly and often will keep search engine spiders like Google Bot visiting your site more frequently to check for new content to index.
