If you can grant me admin access and / or FTP credentials to your site I can go take a look at your code and see if I can figure out what went wrong.
You can use the form on the <a href="http://searchfriendlywebdesign.com/contact/">contact page</a> or email me directly at me AT searchfriendlywebdesign DOT com.
Cheers!

Hi Brian,

If you can grant me admin access and / or FTP credentials to your site I can go take a look at your code and see if I can figure out what went wrong.

You can use the form on the <a

Great Tutorial.
Looks like this has been going on for years.
Pretty awesome.
I am getting this error=Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '?' in /homepages/30/d249511938/htdocs/3DP/blog/wp-content/themes/cleanblack/header.php on line 10
I am getting this when I try to install or preview my new theme.
Did I totally screw this up?

Hi,

Great Tutorial.

Looks like this has been going on for years.

Pretty awesome.

I am getting this error=Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘?’ in /homepages/30/d249511938/htdocs/3DP/blog/wp-content/themes/cleanblack/header.php on line 10

I am getting this when I try to install or preview my new theme.

Did I totally screw this up?

By: Sammy Russo

<guid

No one can say for certain if converting your site will harm your rankings. If you are careful and do the proper 301 redirects then typically you should be OK. Be patient though, it often takes several months for all back links and PR to transfer from old to new. In my several years of experience I have not seen a site tank if they transition carefully and do the 301's as well as upload a new XML sitemap.
Let me know if I can be of assistance if you decide to transition over.

Hi Mike,

No one can say for certain if converting your site will harm your rankings. Your guide here however has been excellent and, in particular, very clear and easy to follow. Many thanks.

I have been building standard html sites for many years now and life has not been easy trying to convert many of these over to take advantage of WordPress. Working up to step 6 you should be working with a single theme file that you created from your Dreamweaver site. So you copied the content from the
/wp-content/default/header.php and pasted it into your NEW working theme file. In step 7 we are taking the one new file we created and are now creating the include files... header.php, footer.php and sidebar.php and calling them into your working index file using the WP Include tags.
I hope this helps. I have meetings all morning and won't be able to respond again till later this afternoon.
Good Luck

Hi Johanna,

Working up to step 6 you should be working with a single theme file that you created from your Dreamweaver site. So you copied the content from the<br

I want to try this, but I got stuck at step 6.
I open up the header.php etc. from the default theme and did what you described.
But then in step 7 you again says, that you have to create 3 blank files, header.php etc.
But we already have edited that header.php.
I don't understand.
What am I missing here?

I will give this guide to my team so that they can work on immediately with our templates. Thanks.

However, I have to say that I am NOT a fan of frameworks.. at all. Yes I use thesis a little bit for the simplicity. The reason being, everything is handled by PHP and the more calls the more load on the server, slower load times, etc.
I think navigation structures that are fairly static can and should be coded in straight xhtml... not an unordered list assembled by PHP.

I think the only framework worth looking into is Thesis.

However, I have to say that I am NOT a fan of frameworks.. at all.
