I think Google +1 automatically gets installed when you have a Blogger site? But yeah, when I read the installation instruction, it’s somewhat difficult when you’re not familiar with coding and such. I think it’s going to take off though not as rapid. It has its benefits when it comes to search engine results but I’m not that sure yet if it’s going to soar. Maybe it will, let’s wait and see.

Hi,

Great Tutorial.

Looks like this has been going on for years.

Pretty awesome.

I am getting this error=Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘?’ in /homepages/30/d249511938/htdocs/3DP/blog/wp-content/themes/cleanblack/header.php on line 10

I am getting this when I try to install or preview my new theme.

Did I totally screw this up?

Hi Mike,

No one can say for certain if converting your site will harm your rankings. If you are careful and do the proper 301 redirects then typically you should be OK. Be patient though, it often takes several months for all back links and PR to transfer from old to new. In my several years of experience I have not seen a site tank if they transition carefully and do the 301′s as well as upload a new XML sitemap.

I would like to convert my DreamWeaver Website that I started in 1999 and convert it to a WordPress site, but I’m concerned that I’d loose search engine position for my keyword terms. Is it possible to convert without changing the old files?

I have been building standard html sites for many years now and life has not been easy trying to convert many of these over to take advantage of WordPress. Your guide here however has been excellent and, in particular, very clear and easy to follow. Many thanks.

Hi Carl,

Sorry for the delay in responding. Only having one editable makes things tricky. Yes you can drop the WordPress Loop code into the main content Editable region.

However you need to be able to modify all the head content of the DW Template to call different scripts, style sheets etc. You also don’t have a place to drop in a widgetized sidebar.

Take a look at this other DW Template conversion tutorial I wrote.
