» CMS With Wordpress – My Latest Endeavor

If you haven’t noticed, but the blog here has been a little quiet. Couple of reason…

1. Very busy with work, family, life, etc..

2. I started a new blog dedicated to creating Wordpress CMS Websites, not blogs but regular content management system websites.

This new project is called CMS With Wordpress (http://cmswithwordpress.com). I’ll still blog about Wordpress related material here on my main business blog. CMS with Wordpress is being set up more as a tutorial website to configuring things to be a real CMS, not just a poorly constructed blog that is pretending to be CMS website.

» Revert to Wordpress 2.7.1

For those out there that immediately updated to Wordpress 2.8 and are having problems with the new release and now want to revert back to Wordpress 2.7.1.. we can help as long as you made a complete backup of your database.

I just started a new blog using Wordpress 2.8 and having problems with the visual editor as well as some other minor issues.  I started the new blog on Wordpress 2.8 so I could test it out before upgrading all my other installations.

As I’ve mentioned in the past… it is always better to wait for the first bug fix release of any next generation Wordpress version… there are usually many bugs that pop because of plugin incompatibility and such in the first initial release.

But its no big deal really if you have a complete database backup of your Wordpress 2.7.1 website because reverting is pretty easy. If you need help reverting contact us today.  I charge $50.00 for most websites to revert to the previously working version as long as you have a complete database backup.

» I’ll Be at the Eugene BNI Networking Lunch May 14

When we first moved to Eugene, OR back in November I knew that I needed to get active in my new local community. So I looked at Meetup.com and found a small business networking group.  I made it to one meeting.. the first meeting of 2009 and since then I’ve been so busy with work projects that to take 2 hours in the middle of my Friday is just out of the question.

Two days ago a person I met at the Meetup group, remembered me and  called to invite me to the next BNI (Business Networking International) luncheon here in Eugene next week as the group was interested in inviting web designers.

I was honored to be invited and I’m look forward to mixing things up and getting out from behind the computer screens to meet some people face-to-face.

If you’re local to Eugene, this luncheon is visitors day.. here are the details:

Visitor’s Day meeting of the BNI Eugene Metro Chapter at the Boulevard Grill, located at 2123 Franklin Boulevard, Eugene, OR 97403, on Thursday, May 14, 2009, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Cost is $20.00 and includes a light lunch.

I just launched another Wordpress CMS creation.. this time for and executive search firm based in the Chicago area. Louis Anthony & Associates Executive Search actually belongs to very good friend and colleague of mine.. Louis Dodaro.

Louis has been in the Executive Search Industry for 15 years and finally decided it was time to go out on his own. So he called me up about a month ago and told me he needed a website.. no problem I said!

» New California Whitewater Site Built in Wordpress

So what have I been doing all winter? Building California Whitewater.. a new informational website on some of the most popular whitewater rafting & kayaking rivers in California. At first launch we compiled a 224 page website with tons of useful information both on the river and off.

As many know, majority of my clients are in the adventure sports industry which makes web projects very fun. Out all the projects I’ve done, I think California Whitewater was most fun for a couple of reasons. The vast amounts of awesome pictures and videos that we got sift through was a great fun.

Another reason California Whitewater was so much fun was the crew I got to work with. Most website projects it just me and maybe one other person involved. But with California Whitewater I got to work with the a great inhouse team comprising of Malina Dunk, Tessa Sibbet and Deb Mason. Malina was the project coordinator, Tessa managed the content publishing and Deb deserves kudos for the fabulous design, cool maps and icon art.

Also a big thanks to All-Outdoors California Whitewater Rafting for allowing the use of their entire image library and video clips.

» BTI Whitewater Website Rebuild

I just finished the relaunch for BTI Whitewater… a river company in Harpers Ferry, WV. There original site was circa 1998.  BTI does a lot of site updating through out there season so we decided to build it in.. you guessed it.. Wordpress.

We took there original 11 page website.. made it 28 pages and added a blog as well.

» We Moved to Eugene Oregon

Search Friendly Web Design recently moved shop to Eugene, OR. The move was was for personal reasons, my family and I were tired of living where we were. We were looking for a better quality of life overall & larger-less isolated location. We believe we have found everything we wanted here in Eugene.

The business community here in Eugene is pretty good… a lot of networking opportunities and with the use of Facebook and Linked In… it makes things even easier. We are already plugging in.

I guess one of the greatest things about being a freelance web designer and search marketing consultants is being able to pick up much move where ever and whenever
